Who We Are
Debra E. Guston received her B.A. degree cum laude from Mount Holyoke College and holds a Masters of Arts from Emerson College. She received her J.D. from Cardozo School of Law in New York City. Deb has been practicing law exclusively in New Jersey since 1988 and adoption law is one of her passions. She has traveled all across the Garden State for the past 20+ years helping people create families through adoption.
Deb's law partner is her father, Herbert M. Guston. Herb is a graduate of Union College and The Yale Law School. Their partnership, Guston & Guston, L.L.P. supports Deb's adoption clients in estate planning to protect their families and provides a family-oriented approach to the general practice of law.
Deb is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association's Family Law Section Executive Committee and has brought her pioneering work with non-traditional families to the State Bar's GLBT Rights Section as its Chair for 2008-2009. Deb frequently lectures to the Bar and community organizations on adoption matters.
Deb has a dedicated staff of experienced paralegals working with her to support her adoption clients' needs and lawyers working of counsel to her firm around the state to meet the court needs of her clients.
